Dr. Marta M. Shinn, Ph.D.
Specialization: Clinical Child Psychology, Educational/School Psychology
Dr. Shinn is a specialist in child and educational psychology. She helps families who have children with special needs and require services through their school district. Dr. Shinn prepares parents for I.E.P. & 504 Plan meetings, supports them in understanding the tests/evaluations conducted by the school, and helps parents decide what educational placements would benefit their child. Dr. Shinn has broad knowledge in child development and education. She consults with parents to orient them to the special education and psychological assessment process, and also joins parents at school-based meetings to support educational decision making in the best interest of their child.

Dr. Elsa Torres, Psy.D.
Specialization: Diagnostic Testing
Dr. Elsa Torres has worked with a culturally diverse population with a wide range of clinical issues including mood disorders, grief/loss, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, identity development, cultural concerns, and academic issues. She is dedicated to helping people discover the root cause of their struggles and finding a healthier path to address their challenges.
Dr. Torres provides psychological assessments for individuals of all ages. She has intensive training and experience providing assessment services, including cognitive, neuropsychological, personality, independent educational evaluations, and behavioral diagnostics.

In her training and practice, she has worked with a wide range of children and families seeking assistance in effective functioning and managing challenging symptoms. She has intensively collaborated with families seeking clarity in diagnosis, treatment support, and behavior management strategies. She provides diagnostic testing and psychological assessment services to families seeking support in understanding their child’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Dr. Weir is a clinical psychologist who is trained and experienced in use of various cognitive, adaptive, behavioral, and personality measures. She has provided both treatment and psychological evaluations to children of all ages. In addition, she has specialized training in assessments for autism and other neurodevelopmental concerns, having provided such evaluations through Children’s Hospital of Orange County and UC Davis MIND Institute. She also has completed specialized training in working with infants and young children (birth to five population) and the developmental challenges that can occur in the parent-child dyad.

Dr. Patricia Asuncion, Psy.D.
Specialization: Neurodevelopmental and Mental Health diagnostics
Dr. Asuncion has experience working with children, families, and adults from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of clinical issues in a variety of settings. She has received extensive training in and utilized various psychological tests, including personality, diagnostic, intellectual, cognitive, neuropsychological, developmental, and academic achievement measures. The evaluations she has completed have been focused on providing treatment recommendations, clarification of mental health diagnoses, identifying any learning challenges and/or neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilty), and to identify any accommodations and placement recommendations in academic settings.
Her experiences include being a teaching assistant for personality assessment courses, conducting developmental assessments for children between the ages of one to 17, completing learning disability and special education evaluations for school aged and college aged individuals. Additionally, she has received training and experience in assessing and providing treatment for children who are diagnosed with co-existing mental health challenges, medical conditions, and/or neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Asuncion has also conducted bilingual assessments (Spanish/English) as part of comprehensive evaluations to ensure that appropriate tests are used.
She completed training in early childhood at the University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles/University of Southern California. During her time at the UCEDD, she was a trainee in the California Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (CA-LEND) Training Program.
